A coupon is a form of discount that can be inserted during the booking process either by the customer on the Triparound widget or the Business user on the back-office booking form when making a booking on behalf of the customer.
How to set up a coupon
Step 1: As a first step, a discount needs to be created in order to be associated with the coupon. For more information, refer to the article: How to create discounts.
Note:
For products shared with the Business (i.e. created and owned by a supplier or another Business), the discount category Transaction Coupon must be selected.
Step 2: In order to create the coupon and associate the discount created on Step 1, proceed to the More > Marketing > Coupons section on the left hand-side menu.
On the top-right hand side of the page, click on New Coupon to create a new coupon.
Then, complete the required fields (i.e. Name, Description, etc.).
Name: Enter the coupon’s name or code that will have to be inserted during the booking process in order for the discount to be applied.
Example: TA10%promo
Active: Activate the coupon so that it can be used.
Description: Enter a description of the coupon.
Note: For internal use only - will not be shown to the customer.
Quantity: Enter the quantity of the available coupons.
Example: If 10 is entered, then the specific discount/coupon can be used for up to 10 different bookings.
Expiration Date: Enter the expiration date of the coupon.
Discount: Select the discount which the coupon will be associated with.
Click on SAVE once all actions have been completed.
Important notes:
Coupons can only be created and used within a Business account.
If a product linked with a coupon is shared with another Business account, the coupon does not transfer (i.e. the coupon remains available only in the account where it was originally created). A new coupon must be created in the account where the product is being used.
Coupons are not available in the Supplier account.
How to use a coupon
Online Booking process (through the widget)
The coupon can be used by the customer during the booking process where the coupon code will have to be inserted in the designated field in order for the discount to be applied.
Example: The customer is offered a 20% discount on the final price by using the coupon code 2023gold.
Step 1: While in Checkout, and after completing their Contact details, the customer needs to click Redeem a coupon / voucher.
Step 2: Customer needs to enter the coupon/ voucher code in the relevant field, click Redeem and then Apply.
Completion of the above steps will adjust the Total price accordingly.
Back-Office Booking process (through the dashboard BOOK NOW)
The coupon can also be used by the Business when making bookings on behalf of the customer (i.e back-office booking process).
The Coupon option appears during the Checkout stage of the booking process.
Click on Coupon and on the pop-up window that appears enter the coupon code and click APPLY in order for the coupon to be applied.
Once done, the coupon is applied on the transaction's price.
Click on BOOK NOW to complete the booking.
Where coupons are stored and tracked
Once created, the coupon will be stored on the Coupons table and will be displayed along with the relative information (i.e Name, Description, Quantity, Expiration Date, etc.). For each coupon created, the total quantity of coupons used, either by the customer(s) or the Business, will also be shown on the table.
Additionally, the coupon used during the booking process, either directly by the customer through the widget or by the Business through the back-office booking process, can be tracked from within the Bookings table found within the Bookings and Customers section on the left-hand side menu.
To do so, click on the Cog icon Configure table columns on the right-hand side and select the column option "Coupon code" in order to be displayed on the Bookings table. The filter "Coupon Code" can also be used to search for bookings in which a specific coupon code has been used.
If required, the coupon used can also be shown on the exported files. To do so, click on the Export icon on the right-hand side and select the column option "Coupon code" in order to be displayed on the export.
Where coupons are displayed
Within the booking
The coupon used during the booking process is shown on the dashboard within the booking.
Within the Guest App
The coupon used is also displayed in the Guest app, under the Cost breakdown section of a specific booking.
