1. The scanning device may not be functioning properly
If the device used to scan the tickets is outdated, damaged, has a dirty camera lens or is running outdated software, it may struggle to read QR codes correctly. Likewise, if the camera cannot focus on the QR code, scanning may be slow or unsuccessful.
Resolution
Clean the camera lens.
Make sure the device is running the latest operating system.
Hold the device steady and position the ticket approximately 10–20 cm (4–8 inches) from the camera.
Restart the scanning app or the device if necessary.
If the issue persists, try using a different device.
2. The ticket or QR code cannot be read
A damaged or poorly displayed QR code may prevent the scanner from reading the ticket. This can happen if the QR code is torn, scratched, smudged, folded, printed in low quality, partially hidden, or displayed incorrectly on a mobile device.
Resolution
Ensure the entire QR code is visible.
Avoid zooming in or out excessively.
Increase the phone's screen brightness if the ticket is displayed digitally.
Reduce glare by adjusting the angle of the device.
Ask the attendee to present the original ticket or display it on another device if necessary.
3. The scanning environment is affecting the scan
Scanning devices rely on good lighting to detect QR codes accurately. Poor lighting, glare, shadows, or reflections can make it difficult for the camera to capture the QR code.
Resolution
Move to a brighter area.
Avoid direct reflections or shadows on the ticket.
Adjust the angle of the ticket or the scanning device until the QR code is clearly visible.
4. There is a connectivity or software issue
If the scanning app requires an internet connection to validate tickets, a weak or unstable network connection may slow down or prevent ticket validation. An outdated version of the scanning app may also affect performance.
Resolution
Verify that the device has a stable Wi-Fi or mobile data connection.
Update the scanning app to the latest version.
If your event supports offline scanning, make sure the event data has been synchronized before scanning begins.
Restart the app after updating if necessary.
