Some products and services require different pricing depending on how long they are used. For example, a vehicle rental may have one daily rate for short rentals and a lower daily rate for longer rentals.
Duration-based pricing can be configured for different product types, depending on the preferred customer experience and the required configuration.
A rental product can be created as:
Experience or Service (for example, water sport equipment rental or baby equipment rental), displayed through the Experiences/Services widget.
Rental (for example, vehicle rental), displayed through the Rental widget.
The available pricing configuration options may vary depending on the selected product type. For example, Guest Types can be used with Experiences but are not available for Rentals.
The following example will be used to demonstrate how to configure a rental offering with duration-based pricing.
Product: Rental offering (e.g. Water sports - Flint board)
Rental duration | Daily rate | Total cost |
1 - 3 days | €370/ day | €370 - €1,110 |
4 - 7 days | €345/ day | €1,380 - €2,415 |
8 - 12 days | €300/ day | €2,400 - €3,600 |
Configuration options
Two different approaches can be used to configure duration-based pricing:
Option | Recommended when |
Option 1 – Discounts | The product type is a Rental, Service, or Experience, and discounted pricing is applied. |
Option 2 – Guest Types | The product is an Experience and pricing needs to be managed directly through pricing elements. |
Option 1 - Configure duration-based pricing using discounts
This option uses a standard price and applies discounts based on the booking duration.
Note
This option can be used for Experiences, Rentals and Services.
Using the rental example:
Step 1: Create a new Rental.
Note: Set the Schedule Duration to 1 day.
Step 3: Go to Pricing and create a pricing element with a price of €370.
Step 4: On the left-hand menu, navigate to More > Marketing > Discounts.
Step 5: Select NEW DISCOUNT.
Step 6: In the Category field select Session Offer.
Step 7: In the Prices section, configure the discounts as follows:
Min | Max | Type | Price |
4 | 4 | Fixed Amount | €100 |
5 | 5 | Fixed Amount | €125 |
6 | 6 | Fixed Amount | €150 |
7 | 7 | Fixed Amount | €175 |
8 | 8 | Fixed Amount | €560 |
9 | 9 | Fixed Amount | €630 |
10 | 10 | Fixed Amount | €700 |
11 | 11 | Fixed Amount | €770 |
12 | 12 | Fixed Amount | €840 |
How to calculate the discount amount
The discount amount should be the difference between the standard price and the duration-based price.
Standard price for 4 days:
€370 × 4 = €1,480
Duration-based price for 4 days:
€345 × 4 = €1,380
Discount to apply for 4 days:
€1,480 - €1,380 = €100
Therefore, €100 should be entered in the Price field as the discount amount.
Important
To ensure the discount is applied correctly, select Fixed Amount in the Type field instead of Percentage.
Step 7: Once the discount configuration has been completed, SAVE.

Step 3: Go to Pricing and create the following pricing elements:
1 - 3 days - €370
